Camp Fire Ravaging Paradise

It’s easy to say material things aren’t important. Sometimes we get a chance to prove that. On November 8, 2018, the small rural mountain town of Paradise, California, as well as much of the surrounding areas, were swept by the fierce Camp Fire, which traveled at speeds of up to eight football fields a minute! The residents of the area fled for their lives in what can only be described, given almost no warning, as a miraculous evacuation. Patty was one of those residents.

Suddenly Patty was a senior citizen owning nothing but a few clothes and possessions, hastily stacked into the car. From the first day it has been obvious to her that God had a hand in this. Story after story of a miraculous escape was told by residents, grateful to be alive. With the certainty that it will take years to rebuild the town, people of the Paradise area have been flung far and wide seeking a quicker solution to finding a new home. Patty has been learning what it really means to walk closely to God and listen carefully for his instructions. She is happy to speak on this disaster and the renewal God gives from the ashes of our former lives. Even in such a situation our God is in control. He continues to secure our good and declare His glory in the midst of chaos and disaster.
